Have you ever had your name spoken over you with such irreverence, that it imprisoned your ability to speak life over yourself?
Have you ever had your name spoken over you with such disdain, that you could feel the its spirit die as it climbed out of the cavern that is your enemy’s mouth?
Have you ever had your name spoken over you with such bitter disregard, that you forgot the sound of your own destiny and believed that you truly had no power?
Pilate’s Box: A Remembrance Ritual for Safekeeping Sacred Names, inspired by the two-headed ways of Toni Morrison’s character, Pilate Dead, in her novel, Song of Solomon, is a balm to soothe the inflammation that arises when our enemies call us out of our names.
Crafted and performed under the shadow of a new moon, this ritual helps one recover & retain the sacred power & authority of their name(s). Whether given or chosen, names plant the seeds for our destiny in a world that attempts to define it for us.
This ritual is open to anybody of all genders who would like to deepen their connection to their name.
MEDICINE THIS RITUAL OFFERS:
🪽the space to cultivate an empowering relationship with one’s name (given or chosen— the choice is up to you)
🪽release & protection from those that seek to bind up your name & destiny
🪽the courage to correct others when you are misnamed/called out of your name
🪽the reinstitution of your name as an invocation, so that when spoken, you may always be reminded of your power
This is an asynchronous ritual, meaning that it is performed remotely on my end on your behalf under the shadow of the new moon on 1.18.2026 🌑.
There is no digital or in-person gathering associated with this service.
All those who wish to participate in this ceremony must complete the intake form and pay the ritual fee (sliding scale) by end of day 1.17.2026.
All participants will receive a detailed ceremony report via email within 72 hours of ceremony completion.
This ritual is just one that will carry us to the Otherside.
